We built a draw
We built a draw
Drones have already become commonplace for many people, but it is unlikely that many have thought about the danger these devices can pose in certain scenarios. Engineer and entrepreneur Luis Wenus practically created a killer drone literally on his knees in the shortest possible time. More precisely, a template for a killer drone that can find a specific person.
All you needed was a drone and some modern software. We are talking about a facial recognition system and a guidance system that allows the device to follow a specific person.
We built a killer AI drone in just a few hours.
I thought it would be fun to create a drone that chases you around in a fun way. It simply uses an artificial intelligence object detection model to find people in the frame. The drone is programmed to fly towards that object at full speed as soon as it detects someone. This project literally took a few hours to create and I realized how scary it was. You can easily attach small amounts of explosives to them and let hundreds of them fly around.
We check for bombs and weapons, but there are NO ANTI-DRONE SYSTEMS FOR LARGE EVENTS AND PUBLIC SPACES YET.
I was also able to add facial recognition to it and make it only attack someone it knew, it could easily identify a person from 10 meters away. I bet we'll see some kind of terrorist attack using this type of technology in the next few years. You still need some technical knowledge to build this now, but it's getting easier and easier. We need to create anti-drone systems for civilian spaces as soon as possible. I'm usually an open source absolutist, but I won't post the details just yet because, frankly, the software is very easy to write.
Given the low cost of modern drones and the ultra-fast development of artificial intelligence, the scenario described by Venus, unfortunately, may actually become a reality.
